I would like to start by saying, “Thank You”, for considering Pennyrile Outfitters. I hope this website will answer your questions and address any concerns you may have. If there's something I've missed, please feel free to contact us. I’ve had a vision to start an outfitting business for several years now and after a few years of hard work and a lot of help from family and friends, that dream will come to fruition in the Fall of 2012. Please refer to our “bio” page to learn more about my qualifications and what led me to Western Kentucky. Kentucky has ranked in the top 10 states for the production of B@C whitetails since the 1980-1985 rankings were released in Jan. 1986. New rankings for the period between 2005-2010 are now out and Kentucky has risen from the number 9 spot in 1986 to the lofty position of number 6 in 2012. As a side note, Kentucky is now ranked above what many consider to be the meccas of trophy whitetail hunting, Kansas and Texas. Within the State of Kentucky, Todd and Christian Counties have consistently ranked as top producers of P@Y whitetails. All of our properties are located within these two counties. Thorough pre-season scouting, attention to detail and extremely limited hunting pressure will be the cornerstones to our success. We currently have approx. 1100 acres under strict management. We know what it takes to harvest a trophy buck and at the top of that list is “don’t hunt until the time is right”. If you’re into trophy whitetails, you know this means late Oct.- eary Nov. The only hunt we have available before that time is an “opening week” hunt where we’re very fortunate to hunt velvet bucks. We will only have 3 hunts scheduled for the fall of 2012 and are limiting those hunts to 4 hunters each . All of our hunts are a full 7 days. If a 7 day hunt doesn’t fit your time constraints, we can work with you to come up with something that does. Hunts will start on a Sunday and end the following Sat. All of our hunts are fully guided with a ratio of 2 hunters per guide. At this time we are not offering day hunts or semi guided hunts. In conjunction with “don’t hunt until the time is right” we must also protect our younger bucks. You will never harvest a trophy buck if you kill all of your younger deer, so we've set a minimum size of 130 inch to protect our 2.5 yr. olds. Everyone wants to levy a fine for those who violate this rule, but I’m just not in favor of fines. I know that after hunting with us most will want to re-book, unfortunately for those that violate the 130 inch rule, that will not be an option. Doe harvest is also a very important aspect of any properly followed management scheme and we encourage our client’s to help us do so. We will have stands set up in critical areas that will be buck only stands. If you would like to harvest a doe, let us know so we can set you up in a stand that's not a buck only stand. As an added bonus, archery hunters are allowed to harvest one turkey during the fall and a turkey tag will be included with your license. A Kentucky non-resident license is 190.00 and is available over the counter or online. We encourage everyone to purchase their license well in advance of their hunt. Your license includes a tag for one buck and one antlerless deer. ...(CLICK HERE TO READ MORE!) |
